A Note on Workspaces and EffectivenessAs part of an IT department at Stanford University, my office was located in the basement of a student dorm. In the low-ceilinged space, hanging pipes and channels carried ventilation, water, fire/sprinklers, sewage and steam - it was a constant mental battle to stave off the sense of oppression and impending doom. After working more than five years in this office, I have a deep and abiding respect for Feng Shui. Case in point: a tragically relevant Dilbert comic: the LifeSuck 3000 Actual pictures of the ceiling above my desk - notice the resemblance? != Feng Shui
Electron MicroscopyMy first job was in an electron microscopy lab, where I learned about photography, and the physics of electrons (exponentially more instructive than Physics 101).
Art from Pittsburgh, PAA couple of my photographs, taken at a Chihuly installation at the Phipps Conservatory.
